parks, open space and coastal preservation assessment district
In 2004, property owners within the Monterey Peninsula Regional Park District approved by ballot a Parks, Open Space and Coastal Preservation District (Assessment District) that provided funding for acquisition, maintenance, preservation and improvement of parks, open spaces, recreational facilities and other similar public resources within the District. The Assessment District was established pursuant to the Landscaping and Lighting Act of 1972, Part 2 of Division 15 of the California Streets, and Highway Code, and Article XIIID of the California Constitution.
This benefit assessment for fiscal year 2012-13 is $22.78 or $11.39 per single family equivalent, depending on property zone. The total amount of revenues that would be generated by the assessments in fiscal year 2012-13 is approximately $1,016,617.
assessment district citizens oversight committee
An Assessment District Citizens Oversight Committee (ADCOC) was established to oversee the implementation of the Assessment District. The ADCOC reviews the accounting for the funds from the measures and makes a determination as to whether the proposed expenditures by the acquisition area are consistent with the criteria and requirements established.
