Parks Open/Activities, Centers & Offices Closed

In accordance with the March 17, 2020 County of Monterey Health Department and March 19, 2020 State of California Executive Orders, in  response to the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), the Monterey Peninsula Regional Park District (District) is taking the following measures:

  • All planned group activities at District parks have been suspended;
  • The Garland Ranch Regional Park Visitor Center and Palo Corona Regional Park Discovery Center are closed;
  • District offices are closed and employees not providing essential governmental fuctions or services are working remotely;
  • The Ranger-on-Duty may be reached between the hours of 8:00am and 4:00pm at (831) 659-4488 x1;
  • District parks currently remain open for regular use BUT the West (Highway 1) entrance to Palo Corona is closed. Users may enter the visit via the Rancho Canada unit at 4860 Carmel Valley Road. (NOTE: water fountains are closed); please check back periodically for updates.

While enjoying the parks, and at all times during the "Shelter in Place" Order, please adhere to Social Distancing Requirements:

  1. Maintain at least six-foot social distance from other individuals;
  2. Wash hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds as frequently as possible, or use hand sanitizer:
  3. Cover coughs or sneezes (into the sleeve or elbow, not hands);
  4. Regularly clean high-touch surfaces; and 
  5. Do not shake hands
